Developing Community Resilience is an ongoing effort

How do we ensure that community resilience is on the national agenda? At Resilience Design, we believe that educating the next generation of leaders and doers is vital to the success of our shared communities. Community resilience is more important, now than ever, following events like Hurricane Ike in 2008, the 2011 Joplin Tornado, and Super Storm Sandy in 2012.

Curriculum Development

Drawing from our experience in the education field, we have developed a curriculum for classrooms and after-school programs to give educators the necessary tools to prepare their students for the next major incident. Our curriculum centers on the following core values of community resilience:

  • Community Leadership
  • Causes of Environmental Disaster
  • The National Incident Management System (NIMS)
  • Critical Infrastructure
